Once your images have been printed, allow the paper to dry for about half an hour. Then tear or cut down the edges so all that remains is the printed part, and not the blank borders. I tear the paper down with a metal yardstick or tear bar. You can also cut away the borders with scissors if tearing it is too cumbersome.
TRANSFERRING PRINT TO CLAY
Now that you have an image printed on paper, here is where the magic begins. You will now take your image from two dimensions to three.
For your setup, begin with the printed and torn-down transfer, the 1/2 gallon (1.9 L) of deflocculated transfer slip, the hake brush, the 12" × 18" (30.5 × 45.7 cm) leather-hard slab of clay, the flexible rib, and the 18" × 20" (45.7 × 50.8 cm) piece of drywall.
Place your transfer on the sheet of drywall image side up, and the soft leather-hard slab on the table you will be working on. Using the hake brush, paint the deflocculated slip directly on the leather-hard slab using even strokes to make sure that you don’t create any pooling (7).
